As part of our 2nd year anniversary celebration, APWT (Asian Professional Women in Technology) presents another mind stimulating talk only this time covering women technology educators.

Two successful educators in the Bay area will each give a 30-min inspirational talk about their struggles and challenges being females in the tech industry before they became technology educators and/or tech evangelists. Take home valuable lessons and advice from our Techno- Coach and educator Reesa Abrams on how to work confidently and emerge successfully in the IT and IS industry. Be free to ask questions and have a dialogue with Dr. Kim Foreman on how to encourage and inspire more women be involved in technology and education.


On the deck, our speakers are:

Reesa Abrams
, Associate at WellSpring (http://www.wellsprg.c...) is a Relationship Manager and a Learning Expert. Reesa is known for the development and use of a Stakeholder/Mentor model of training. This helps empower organizations integrate across geographical and cultural boundaries. Additionally it results in empowering their employees and meeting the needs of their customers and partners.

Ms. Abrams is also an E-Learning expert covering all aspects of production from selecting, installing, maintaining and becoming proficient in learning management systems & authorware to specific implementations for corporate organizational requirements.

Dr. Kim Foreman is Professor of Instructional Technology at San Francisco State University

Dr. Foreman has published journal articles and newspaper columns on learning styles, multicultural education, interactive multimedia, instructional design, and technology integration.
Dr. Foreman has been writing a bi-weekly educational column in Korea Times. Her educational essays have been widely read by Korean teachers and parents nationally and internationally. Additionally, Dr. Foreman also has been co-writing a column called, “Korean and Korean Culture Through the Eyes of Strangers”. Since 1998, Dr. Foreman has conducted teacher training in Africa for one month every summer. Her initial participation with the African Project was to deliver food and clothes to refugees who were displaced by the 1994 Rwanda Genocide, but after witnessing the desperate need for teacher training, she initiated annual training seminars in Rwanda, Uganda, and the Congo.

We are an organization mostly of  Asian descent. Our members are mostly from SF-Silicon Valley in various technologies, start-ups, and technology-related fields (e.g. communications, law, etc).
